A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
