Cars in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were notified by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important political figure commented the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
